Peckovsko region, an interesting and sought-after destination as to the tourism, lies in the romantically waved hillside of the Podkrkonoší countryside. It is situated around a signifi cant historical monument of Pecka Castle, which dominates over the town of the same name.
Market town Pecka has preserved the character of a picturesque peaceful Krkonoše small town called the Pearl of Podkrkonoší region. Evidence of its rich history is a number of preserved cultural monuments. On a modifi ed square framed by several burghers’ houses from the middle of the 19th century, in the centre of the square there is a plague column from 1720, crowned with a Corinthian head, on which a statue of the Virgin Mary stands. The huge Church of St. Bartholomew devoted to the town patron is mentioned in writing in 1384. The present brick church, a baroque temple with a slender tower, was built between 1751 and 1753.
The Pecka Castle was founded in the late 13th century. For visitors, two interesting tours are set up in the reconstructed Harant Palace. The historical circuit includes the workroom of the most famous owner of Pecka - Kryštof Harant from Polžice and Bezdružice, further the knight’s hall and the exhibition dedicated to the history of the castle and the Pecka market town. In the second circle called the Harantovské sklepy (cellars), it gives an insight into the everyday life of the castle under the infl uence of Kryštof Harant.
