Golcuv Jenikov - the center of the Czech Republic.
The oldest monument is the St. Margaret Church of the 14th century, that is in the town coat-of-arms. Golcuv is named after an illustrious imperial general of the Thirty Years War, M.M. Golc. He let the objects built, that are used up to now (fortress, City Hall, Loretta, Jesuit residence). A monument for several centuries functioning Jewish community is the synagogue and the Jewish cemetery, one of the oldest in Central Europe.The town (2,650 inhabitants) is situated on the edge of the Bohemian- MoravianHighlands. The surrounding countryside is ideal for both summer and winter tourism. Regular exhibitions are held in Golcuv fortress, there is also a ceremonial hall and space for chamber music concerts that also take place in a church.
