The Museum of the Brno Region is a contributory organization of the South Moravian Region. It was established in the 1960s, then as the BrnoCountry District Museum, by merging several institutions independent until then, today branches of the Museum of the Brno Region. The oldest ones are the Ivančice Museum (1894), the Cairn of Peace Memorial (1923) built on Pratecký Hill, the Podhorácko Museum (1929) located in the Porta coeli (Heaven‘s Gate) convent in Předklášteří, and the Šlapanice Museum (1934). At the beginning of the 21st century, the Museum of literature in Moravia (2005) situated in the Benedictine Convent in Rajhrad joined as well and so did the most recent addition, the Löw-Beer Villa in Brno (2015).
